Bay Pointe Ballet School's open adult ballet program offers a range of classes for adult ballet students ages 18 and up. Our ballet studio in South San Francisco, CA offers training for beginners, intermediate and advanced adult ballet students, and professionals alike. In addition to our ongoing adult ballet classes, we also offer absolute beginner ballet workshops geared towards the complete beginner. Our studios feature professionally sprung marley flooring.

Absolute Beginner Ballet Workshop: This workshop is designed to introduce the basic positions and movements of ballet. The goal of the workshop is to lay the foundation needed to progress to Beginning Ballet class level. Class includes thorough explanation of terminology and steps, introduction to basic barre work, and center exercises that establish balance, strength, and placement. Gentle stretching exercises are included in each class. The work shops are either 8 or 10 weeks. No prorating/refund is offered for partial attendance. Make up lessons also not available. Beginning Ballet: Appropriate for students with basic understanding and knowledge of ballet technique and that have taken basic ballet. Classes are paced to ensure proper placement and knowledge of steps given. This class provides a full barre and center work that includes basic traveling phrases, simple pirouettes, and allegro (jumping) exercises.

Mixed Level Adult Jazz: An energetic class for dancers who have hadsome dance experience. Emphasis on basic jazz steps and sequences. Each class begins with a standing warm up, incorporating balance, coordination, flexibility and strength building. Across the floor variations develop traveling steps and dance styles. Turns and combinations will be taught introducing different jazz styles and music. Combinations are designed to solidify jazz technique while having fun.

Intermediate/Advanced Ballet: A faster paced class for those who are comfortable with ballet curriculum and can move easily through barre and center work. Students continue to improve technique, expand movement capacity, increase strength and improve flexibility.

Adult Pointe: Appropriate for beginner and advanced beginner adult pointe students, Adult Pointe should be taken with the preceding intermediate ballet class. This half hour class begins with pointe exercises at barre and progresses to center pointe technique. Adults interested in going en pointe, please speak with instructor Melinda Neal. This class has a three student minimum.

What if it has been a while since I've last trained?
You may feel most comfortable trying a Beginning Ballet class, before taking an Intermediate/Advanced class.

What do I wear to ballet class?
Acceptable attire includes, but is not limited to: leotards and tights, t-shirts, yoga pants, or leggings. Please have your hair pulled away from your face. Ballet shoes must be worn in class.

What is the minimum age to take open adult classes?
Our minimum age is 18, unless give special permission from School Principal.

Bay Pointe Ballet strictly holds the following Purchase Policies:
* No Refund, Partial Refunds or Prorating available on any purchase of classes, class cards, enrollments, workshops or worn retail items. Retail items may be returned if in new condition, with tags, within 30 days of purchase.
* Class Cards are good for 6 months from date of purchase. No extension of class card expiration date is available.
* No Barre-Only rates, or discounts for attending a class only in part, available.
* Refund, credit, or return of class to a class card is not available if client enters a class, then chooses to leave before class finishes.
