On Thursday June 5, Bay Pointe Ballet held a Grand Opening ceremony to celebrate the completion of their new studio home. The ceremonies commenced with a ribbon cutting involving several elected officials and then concluded with a wonderful performance of an excerpt from Artistic Director Bruce Steivel's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Prior to the performance Steivel also took the opportunity to make an exciting announcement and shared the company's second season would include three full-length productions, as well as an additional New Works Series performance.
Artistic Director Bruce Steivel's family-friendly productions to be featured in the 2014/2015 season will include Peter Pan, Nutcracker, and Coppelia. For many in the community, their first exposure to the new company was last year's inaugural presentation of Steivel's Nutcracker. Adding these charming productions to the company repertoire is a big next step for Bay Pointe Ballet and an integral part of the vision for the budding regional touring company. The company has set a trajectory to become a first rate regional company that has its home in San Mateo County, but also reaching audiences throughout the Western United States.
